ABout ME

Improv is one of the most enduring and passionate relationships of my life. I began taking improv classes in 2000 which made me realize that I was brave, creative, and confident. A year later I was asked to join Transactors Improv Company, a local professional improv company. I took a break from improv to complete my dissertation in Comparative Literature. I returned to improv in 2012. I have the privilege to practice improv regularly with some the Triangle’s most talented improvisers in a lab theater that I co-founded in 2015.

I have been cultivating a Buddhist practice of mindful breathing for the better part of a decade. Mindful breathing has altered how I am in the world. It continues to ground me, to enable me see the world more compassionately. It helps me to live skillfully, and challenges me to remain in the present moment. This stuff works, trust me.

My Background

Before embarking on solopreneurship, I had a few past work lives. I was a French teacher for sixteen years. My student base included middle, high school and university students as well as adults.  The highlight of this part of my career was that, I was able to empower students to overcome their fear of learning and speaking a foreign language. I was able to make them feel safe, empowered and confident to take the risk of speaking a foreign language aloud in class.

I then moved on to work at one of the most successful, multidisciplinary universities in the Triangle and the US, where I served in the field of Research Development for seven years. My role was to engage innovative researchers to think outside the box when considering funding opportunities. And I still use some of these same skills in my coaching business today!

The Fun Stuff

Besides improv, cooking (and eating what I make!) is my absolute passion. My specialties include anything and everthing Italian, but not forgetting my famous chocolate brownies. I am lucky to call the small, arty town of Pittsboro, North Carolina home.

When I am not tucked up in a sunny corner of my home reading memoirs or watching British crime dramas on tv, I love to get outdoors and go hiking in the beautiful countryside with my husband.

THE SERIOUS STUFF

I completed my formal coach training through Raleigh Coaching Academy and have the ACC accreditation from the International Coach Federation.

Prior to coaching, I received my PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, as well as my Masters and Bachelor's Degrees in French from Florida State University.
